Murundaka's 5th Birthday Party

Murundaka Cohousing Community is turning 5 - yay! What a journey it's been so far! 
If you've been on some of that journey with us, then we'd love you to come along and help us celebrate this important milestone. We'll also be celebrating the 30th birthday of our housing co-operative: Earth Common Equity Rental Housing Co-operative.

Mapping the Groundswell

The Mapping The Groundswell project is an initiative of local residents and supported by Banyule City Council.  

This initial meeting will explore options for mapping sustainability initiatives in Banyule.

Join Cohousing Banyule - a new group forming in the North-East of Melbourne - to talk about and explore ideas for starting a new cohousing community in Banyule. This will be Workshop #1 in a series of events.

RUG Film night 'Bag It'

Held on Friday 15th July 2016.

Celebrating Plastic Free July, RUG (Murundaka's Resource Utilisation Group) hosted a film night to help inspire. 

 

'Bag It' starts as a film about plastic bags and evolves into a wholesale investigation into plastic's effects on our oceans, environment, and bodies. We see how our crazy-for-plastic world has finally caught up to us...and what we can do about it.

Murundaka 2016 Info Session

Held on Saturday 16th July 2016.

Approximately 50 people came along to our 2016 Info Session. It was great to see so many new faces and talk to folks about cohousing and co-opertives. The session featured a presentation from Common Equity Housing, a presentation from Murundaka residents, site tour and pot-luck lunch.

Plastic-Free Pot-Luck Morning Tea

Held on Sunday 24th July 2016.

Approximately 20 people attended RUG's Plastic-Free Pot-Luck Morning Tea. It was great have a chat with locals about plastic-free living and enjoy some delicious snacks and home-cooking. Thanks to everyone who attended!

Planning and Designing Inclusive Communities
Held on 9th March 2016, featuring Chuck Durrett and Murundaka's Giselle Wilkinson and Heidi Lee.

Cohousing is seen as the new development model that can deliver both resilient and affordable, and happy communities at the same time. New models, new thinking and new incentives are needed to create affordable, inclusive and resilient places that embed a sense of place, community ownership and pride, mental health and wellbeing and low impact living.

2016 Open Day
Held on the 27th February 2016.

50-60 members of the public visited Murundaka to come and learn about cohousing at our annual Open Day. The day featured a site tour, conversations with residents and talks about cohousing and intentional communities. Attendess enjoyed refreshments and a movie screening of indigenous wisdom film Dindarri.
